A well-cared-for shirt lasts years. A badly washed one can be ruined in a single cycle. The simple rules:
The 5 washing commandments
- 30° max — never hotter, technical polyester hates it
- Inside out — essential to protect printing, sponsors and crests
- No tumble dryer — printing's enemy #1; air dry flat or on a hanger
- No fabric softener — it clogs breathable fibres
- No iron on prints — if needed, iron inside out on low
Tough stains
Grass or mud: rub with plain soap before the machine. Avoid bleach and harsh removers, even on white shirts.
For collectors
A retro shirt should be washed as rarely as possible, ideally by hand. Keep it out of direct sunlight.
With these habits, your printed shirt will stay perfect season after season.
